Silver Lining Advocacy: Roots for Resilience – grounding youth in knowledge that sustains. Her Silver Lining advocacy is truly special.
She says, “As a past foster child growing up in the system, I know the importance of food security. My project: Roots for Resilience, empowers vulnerable groups— especially youth in care—through backyard farming, ensuring no child goes hungry while promoting a sustainable, healthy lifestyle.
This 23-year-old George Town native, is a dynamic youth advocate, environmental ambassador, and community leader with a heart for service and a passion for empowering the next generation. Latecia has been involved in pageantry since winning her first pageant, Cayman’s Agriculture Queen, in 2017 and has held multiple pageant titles since. Latecia studied Social Work and serves as a Youth Support Worker at the Children and Youth Services (CAYS) Foundation, working directly with vulnerable youth. She also mentors girls at the Francis Bodden Children’s Home. She continues to celebrate and promote Caymanian culture as a senior member of the Dream Chasers Cayman Dance Company, where she also mentors younger dancers.
She actively volunteers with Meals on Wheels and Plastic Free Cayman, as well as various community initiatives like Earth Day cleanups, tree planting projects, and marine conservation efforts. Through hands-on projects and community education, she champions sustainability, beach preservation, and the protection of Cayman’s unique natural resources. Latecia Bush continues to embody grace, purpose, and leadership, inspiring youth and adults alike with her unwavering commitment to building a stronger, more sustainable Cayman Islands—and leaving a positive legacy for generations to come.
