Beach Cleanup

From glam shots to giving back! The Miss Earth journey is more than gowns and photoshoots — it’s about being of service to our planet and our communities.

One of the greatest threats to our oceans and coastlines is plastic pollution. Over time, plastic waste doesn’t disappear — it breaks down into microplastics, tiny fragments that find their way into the sand, seaweed, and even the fish we eat. These invisible pollutants disrupt ecosystems, threaten marine life, and ultimately circle back to us in the food chain.

That’s why cleanups matter. Each piece of trash we remove is one less hazard for our beaches, coral reefs, and wildlife. Together, small actions create waves of change.

Latecia Bush had the honor of joining forces with the incredible team at Plastic Free Cayman & The Ritz-Carlton for a coastal cleanup at Garvin’s Park. In just a few hours, we collected over 200 lbs of garbage — proof that when we come together, we can make a real impact.

Let’s make it our duty to protect Cayman’s natural beauty. Let’s make every day Earth Day. 🌿💚

BEACH CLEANUP

As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, Miss Earth Cayman Islands is teaming up with EarthDay.Org and Plastic Free Cayman for a special Beach Cleanup on August 23, 2025. This initiative is more than just a cleanup—it’s a call to action for all Caymanians to protect our beautiful islands and the world’s oceans from the growing threat of plastic pollution. The Cayman Islands are the gem of the Caribbean, known for our crystal-clear waters, lush marine life, and vibrant coral reefs. Keeping our beaches clean isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about preserving the very foundation of our environment, tourism, and way of life.
